Tarot Topics 4/29/2015: Affirmation

Affirmation

Many people use the spiritual practice of affirmation to help with growth, healing and manifestation. People often think of affirmation as simply a repeated phrase to counter a fear or encourage a positive new behavior.

Truly, affirmation is the process of affirming something to be true in your life. The trick is, sometimes it’s helpful to affirm something to be true that we want to be true, that hasn’t yet manifested.

This strategy of affirming the presence of something desired is part of the very effective practice of creative visualization. If we can visualize something we want for ourselves, we have an easier time making it a reality.

Sometimes the things we must affirm are truths about ourselves that we don’t always believe; truths about our worthiness, our skills and our success. Sometimes we must affirm the things we want to make real in our lives. We do this by visualizing those things in progress, and affirming that progress. This causes us to believe in our own future success, and helps to make that success a reality.

Write your Affirmation!

If there is something you want to accomplish, be it weight loss, a new job or a balanced budget; try this exercise to help make it happen!

Simply visualize exactly what you want, and write a sentence, stating it in the present tense. For instance, see yourself at your ideal weight and affirm, “I am maintaining my ideal weight.”

The more you say it, the more clearly you will see it. The more you see it, the more you will release you resistance to your healing and positive change.

The Week in Review

This week, I reviewed the new Celtic Lenormand. This is a very beautiful, and very innovative deck. You can see this great new deck, and learn why I think it’s so great, in the Media section of my new website.

On my personal blog, I shared a tarot exercise that uses the card numbers to help derive meaning and understanding. Read “The Numbers of Tarot: An Exercise”.

From Around the Web

From Tarot Taxi, here is a downloadable, free Lenormand deck that you can print yourself! She has some great learning tools as well!

I am hearing that “The Fountain Tarot” was the talk of the town at Reader’s Studio this year. What do you think about this interesting deck?

Here’s an old article from Huffington Post about our topic this week, affirmations. Read about “35 affirmations that will change your life”.

Tarot Affirmations

What should you be affirming in your life? What do you truly need to manifest? What affirmations would serve your highest good?

Sometimes it’s hard to know the right answer to these questions, but tarot can help.

Simply take a moment to breathe, ground and center. Ask your guides to help as you shuffle your deck.

Then ask this question.

“What do I need to affirm in my life right now?”

Pull one card only.

Take a moment with your card. Look at the image, and think about it’s meaning. What affirmation can you formulate from your card? Make sure you word your affirmation in the present tense.

Here are some examples of tarot cards and the affirmations they might inspire.

The Sun: I stand in my power, I claim my talents and abilities, I am happy in my life.

The Devil: I release the attachments that no longer server me, I am healed from the unhealthy attachments of others.

The Seven of Wands: I trust my ability to succeed, even against superior odds.

The Ace of Wands: I am filled with radiant energy, I am inspired, I am connected to my source of power.

The Three of Pentacles: I am valued and recognized in my workplace.

The Ace of Cups: I am fully capable of giving and receiving unconditional love.

The Two of Cups: I am attracting a perfect loving partnership.

What’s up on the Psychic Café?

This past weekend, Theresa Reed, aka “The Tarot Lady”, gave a great presentation at the Reader’s Studio, an annual tarot conference in New York, hosted by The Tarot School.

In honor of Theresa’s accomplishment, I’m featuring my conversation with her from an earlier episode of Christiana’s Psychic Café.

You can watch the episode at your convenience on my YouTube Channel. Don’t forget to subscribe while you are there!

Learning Lenormand

This week, we are beginning a new series about the cartomancy craze that is sweeping the world, the Petit Lenormand.

The Petit Lenormand, most often called simply “Lenormand,” bears the name of Marie Ann Lenormand (1772–1843), the most famous fortune-teller in France during the Napoleonic era.

Although the Lenormand cards were developed after her death, Mlle. Lenormand did conduct her readings with a subset of a regular playing deck.

Like tarot, there are many different Petit Lenormand decks available, with different themes and artistry. A Lenormand deck will have thirty-six cards, numbered one through thirty-six. The card numbers are for reference, and bear no interpretive value.

Some modern Lenormand decks contain more than thirty-six cards, because certain cards are duplicated with different artwork.

Each Lenormand card has a playing card association. The playing cards used in the Lenormand deck are the Aces, Sixes, Sevens, Eights, Nines, Tens, Jacks, Queens and Kings of all four suits.

In some Lenormand traditions, the playing card association does lend an interpretative value to the card.

Next week, we will begin our card-by-card exploration of the Petit Lenormand with card one, the Rider.

Your One-Card Weekly Reading

Your one-card reading this week is the Two of Swords. This is the card of peace.

This week, find that place of stillness within you. Breathe deeply, and release your worries and fears.

The Two of Swords can often indicate a decision, a time of indecision or uncertainty, or a difficult balance to be kept.

This week, be careful to weigh your words carefully. When in doubt, stay silent. If you are feeling indecisive or ambivalent, seek guidance through meditation and divination.

Be patient. Sometimes answers take time. Don’t let anyone or anything steal your peace.

The Four Elements and the Major Arcana
Free WebEx Webinar Available Exclusively On Line
Thursday, May 21, 7 pm

The four elements of life are Earth, Air, Fire and Water. They each have metaphysical properties as well as physical properties.

The four elements correlate with the four suits of the Minor Arcana of the tarot. They also correlate with individual cards of the Major Arcana.

The term “Major Arcana” means “Greater Secrets.” The twenty-two cards of the Major Arcana contain the most spiritual messages and lessons of the tarot, and tell the story of our journey through life.

When we learn the elemental associations for each of the Major Arcana cards, we have a clear way to understand these important cards.

This 75-minute webinar will help the tarot student more fully understand the four elements. It will provide a deeper way to comprehend each of the Major Arcana cards. The student will be able to more fully interpret the Major Arcana cards, whether reading for yourself or others.

This is a Free Webinar Available Online Only!
