Life as a Moving Meditation
A woman doing yoga in a river.
I first heard the term ‘moving meditation’ in a yoga class. I later discovered that the term is often used to describe activities such as dance and Tai Chi, and even has significance for Jedi in the Star Wars universe.
I love this term for two reasons. First, many people tell me they just cannot quiet their mind and sit still in meditation. I suggest to them that they could reap some of the benefits of meditation through a combination of movement and mindset, such as dance, yoga, drumming, swimming, or even a repetitive craft like knitting or crocheting. Rhythm and motion, when we allow our minds to flow rather than fixate, can create a meditative state where healing, insight, and magic can happen.
On a larger scale, I love the idea of considering all of life a moving meditation. What does it take to view your own life as a moving meditation? It requires that we recognize our life as a sacred journey. We must consciously stay grounded to Earth and connected to spirit as we move through our daily lives. We must try to meet our challenges with the strength and grace that comes from a spiritual perspective. We must be grateful in joyful moments. We must be constantly mindful of what is happening around us and be clear about how we will use our energy, which energies we will embrace, and which we will choose to avoid.
Of course, we cannot move through our daily lives in a trance state, and we will not always approach challenges with grace. Yet, if we can think of life as a moving meditation, we will be more likely to dance and flow through life, and we will be better equipped to handle the inevitable challenges.

The StaarCorner
The month of July is already shaping up to be a busy one for the StaarCon 5 lounge events, featuring sessions with Frank Kwiatkowski, Alyssia Taylor, Serena Fox, and Michelle Barrie.
Of course, the recordings from most of the StaarCon 5 sessions are available to ticketholders, and you still have until mid-January to watch them.
Tickets are still available to see the recordings and to participate in the live lounge sessions.
What about our next conference, StaarCon 6? We are busy creating an entirely new way to make StaarCon happen that will be more accessible and even more robust. We recognize that the world is evolving, and we are adapting to it.
What new live events and topics would you like to see covered in the StaarCon 5 lounge events? What would you like to see happen at StaarCon 6?
Please email me and let me know!

Tarot For the Big Questions
I love working with tarot in mundane ways. Tarot is a valuable tool for helping us with practical matters. Yet, tarot is vast in its ability to speak to all issues, and many of us view tarot as a spiritual tool, even though it is derived from a simple game. Each tarot card can be interpreted as something mundane or as a spiritual message. Sometimes, both aspects of life are referenced in the reading of a single card.
We all have big existential questions about life and its meaning, as well as how we are growing and evolving spiritually. What happens when we ask tarot those big questions?
I think it is a great exercise to come up with larger spiritual questions and more profound questions about our spirituality, and see what tarot has to say.
While I am usually a fan of using more cards to answer a question versus fewer, I believe that the broader the question is, the fewer cards you will want to use to get your answer.
Here is a fun example. I just asked tarot to explain to me the meaning of life in one card. The card I received was the Two of Cups reversed. Obviously, not the easiest card to interpret in this context. Here is how I interpreted that single card to answer this very big question.
In this life, we find meaning by making connections with others. The trick is that, although the goal is connection, healing, and love, we often act in unlovable ways. The meaning of life is to develop the ability to connect, love, and heal, even though it is difficult.
What big questions will you ask your cards?

The Week in Review
This week, we celebrate Juneteenth and the Solstice. I will be traveling for a private engagement from Thursday through Monday morning, so my usual livestream shows will be on hiatus, just for the week. I will do my best to do some pop-ups, so look for me! I will remain available for Zoom, FaceTime, and phone readings during my travels. Please don't hesitate to reach out and schedule your session with me this week!

Communities
Many studios and storefronts offer classes in yoga and meditation. Some are oriented more toward fitness, while others are more focused on spirituality. Some try to find a perfect balance between the two.
I have always enjoyed group fitness and what my mother used to call ‘corporate worship’. While some things, like dancing and singing, are always more fun to do with others, things we can do on our own, like yoga, meditation, prayer, and ritual, are often greatly enhanced when done in a group.
I often hear people say they go to their local yoga studio not only for the class, but for the community. The people we practice with can often become our friends.
Of course, any yoga or meditation community, just like any church or coven, will only be as good as the members and leadership are, and not every community is right for every person. Yet, the benefits of group practice are significant and worth seeking out.
