Room to Grow

When we buy clothes for kids, we typically buy a little bigger than they need, so there is some room for them to grow before the new clothes are inevitably outgrown. We also give our kids room to grow in other ways. We understand they will outgrow simple toys and need more sophisticated things. We know, too, that their behaviors will change as they grow. We excuse their difficult behaviors because we know they will grow out of those, just as they grow out of their clothes and toys.

As adults, we no longer expect our bodies to grow, and when they do, we are often unhappy about it. Yet, our bodies are always changing, and, at any age, respond well when we improve how we care for them. That is growth that can be celebrated!

The concept of leaving room for growth can inspire us at any stage of life. When we leave room for others to grow, we can offer grace to those who are problematic yet earnestly trying to improve. We can also do the same for ourselves.

When we leave room for ourselves to grow, we can celebrate our wins at any age. I like to believe that opportunities to learn and grow never end. As we get older, the more we can set goals for ourselves, the healthier we will stay and the better we will become.

When we leave ourselves room to grow, we can move past our mistakes and learn from them without dwelling on self-recrimination. We can have the courage to try again and do better next time, just as we did when we were younger.

How Tarot Helps Us Grow

Tarot helps us grow and honors and acknowledges our growth in many ways. A reading with a great reader can inspire and motivate your growth. Regularly seeing a reader can help you track your improvement.

When we read for ourselves regularly, the cards can help us track our progress and quickly catch and correct ourselves when we fall back. Here is an example of that. My personal significator is the Queen of Wands. She will show up to tell me I am on track. If I am doing exceptionally well, I appear in self-readings as the King of Wands or the King of Cups. But the cards will gently let me know I am not doing my best by demoting me to the Knight of Wands.

Tarot is a book of spiritual wisdom in picture form. When we study tarot deeply, we learn from the study, just as we learn from the study of any sacred text. This study helps us understand ourselves and the world in which we live. As we embrace the wisdom of tarot, it fosters our growth and healing.

The Week in Review

Tonight, join our digital village for an exciting online workshop on Tarot Ethics. I will be broadcasting on YouTube and multi-streaming across multiple social media video platforms.

This Saturday at 1 pm, join me at the Mandel Public Library in West Palm Beach for a free tarot class.

I uploaded a video to my YouTube channel this week about a unique tarot construct that I have decided I like.

From Around the Web

I came across this post by Amanda Weedmark, which I enjoyed. Read Beyond Predictions: The Transformative Power of Tarot for Self-Discovery.

I was pleased to see Rolling Stone magazine cover an alarming trend, the spiritualization of AI.

Here is a Self-Reflection Tarot Spread from Moon and Leaf Magic.

Communities

Our public libraries are communities that can help us grow at any age. One of my fondest childhood memories is of Thursday evenings, which my mother designated as Library Night. After dinner, she and I would gather our borrowed books and walk to the library to return them and pick out new ones. The librarian, Mrs. Wells, would sometimes have new books saved for us.

When my kids were growing up, our city libraries were larger, and we didn't always interact with the same librarians; yet, my children’s library experiences were equally valuable and formative. The larger libraries created more programs and opportunities for kids to learn and grow.

I now offer classes in libraries, and I am consistently impressed by the range of services libraries provide to support their local communities. Whether you want to take yoga, learn tarot, do art, or find a job, your local library is a community waiting for you to join it!
