Finding the Right Fit

It may be a first world problem, but the struggle is real. We are all searching for the perfect fit, whether we are looking for right livelihood, romance, a best friend or even a new home.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the person, place or situation that suits us, or where we feel we fit in.

It can take a long time to figure out the right career, meet the right person or find the right community. We often view the things that didn’t work along the way as mistakes. Truly, every choice helps us to determine what works and what doesn’t. Sometimes we have to try a few things on for size before we find exactly what we are looking for.

There are two things we can always do to help ourselves along on the journey to finding a perfect fit. Be patient, and be positive.

Find the Right Fit with Tarot

The problem with finding the perfect fit is that nothing is perfect. Soul mates irritate each other, dream jobs have nightmare days, and new neighbors can turn your peaceful home into a war zone.

Often, when we are searching for something, waiting for something, or making a decision about what the right fit might be, we turn to tarot for insight.

Tarot is the perfect tool for this kind of insight, because it speaks on so many levels. Your reading might tell you where to find what you are looking for, it might inspire you to think about something you haven’t tried before, it might warn you that something you thought would be a good fit really isn’t.

Your cards might also simply tell you to be patient, or give insight about ways to sustain yourself in a situation that doesn’t fit very well.

In my opinion, the best way to use tarot to find your right fit is to dialogue with the cards. That is, simply ask questions and pull a card or two in answer. See how the cards you pull work together, in context with the questions you’ve asked.

The important thing is to be open in the questions you ask, and in your interpretations, so you can see what the cards are trying to say, rather than casting your hopes and fears into the reading.

So often the search for the right fit is worsened by fear and anxiety. We are afraid we will never find what we want, or that we will be disappointed by what we chose.

It’s important, if you have issues with fear and anxiety, to confront those things with the cards, too. You can ask questions like “What am I afraid of?” or “What is the worst thing that can happen?” or “How can I release my anxiety?”

The complexity of tarot and its symbolism makes it a great tool to help us cope with the most complex areas of life.

The Week in Review

This week I finally had a moment to turn my attention to the mounting pile of questions for my “Answers to Your Questions about Tarot” blog and video series. The question I answered is about using tarot as a tool for mediumship.

You can read the blog and watch the video on my community blog.

From Around the Web

This September has two important eclipses. Whether or not you follow astrology, you will want to know about the transformational energies available to you this month. Here’s a great article from Numerologist.com.

From Elephant Journal, here are instructions to prepare for meditation, from a Buddhist monk.

From Biddy Tarot, here is an article from Russell Sturgess, who will be speaking at Florida TarotCon.

Finding the Tarot Deck that Fits You

With so many tarot decks available, how can you find your perfect fit in tarot? Here are five tips.

1. Be aware of the different tarot traditions, and the different types of decks. You can learn more about that by checking out this post, where I answer a question about choosing a beginner tarot deck.

2. Recognize that you will probably own more than one deck. Different decks are good for different uses and different moods. Don’t expect to love every card, or love a deck for every possible use.

3. Check out reviews. There are plenty of written and video reviews of most tarot decks easily available online.

4. There is an intangible energetic quality to tarot. You may love the images, but not feel good with the deck. If you get a deck that doesn’t work for you, don’t be afraid to add it to your collection, trade it with a friend or sell it on EBay, and try a new deck.

5. Approach tarot with a light heart! So often, we take ourselves, and our cards, too seriously. There are many light-hearted decks, such as Halloween Tarot, Vanessa Tarot and Gummy Bear Tarot. Don’t be afraid to try something that’s a bit fun, or non-traditional.

Learning Lenormand

Card Nineteen: Tower

While the Tower in tarot is considered a very challenging card that describes destruction, the Lenormand Tower is neither ‘”blasted” nor “fallen”. There is no lightening, and no destruction.

The Lenormand Tower is about a structure, or an institution. It’s nature may be protective, bureaucratic.

The Tower can speak of government and hospitals, or any monolithic structure or organization.

The Tower can also speak about someone who is isolated or lonely.

In health readings, the Tower can refer to the spine.

The playing card association for the Tower is the Six of Spades. This can refer to letting go or making room for something new.

Next week, we will visit with the Garden, or Park, Card Twenty.
